Add PhotosThe All Saints church building was destroyed in the Second World War. The remains of 403 people buried in the catacombs beneath the church were transferred to a communal grave in Hollybrook Cemetery. The church rubble was removed and the site is now occupied by modern buildings.
A separate above-ground cemetery for the parishioners of All Saints was located a short distance from the church building, on East Street near Back of the Walls. It was opened after the church was reconstructed in the late 1700s but was filled by 1843. The last burial took place in 1861. The burial ground was cleared of headstones in 1914 and subsequently used as an open space. In the 1960s, Southampton City Council constructed a car park on the site, clearing the graves and re-interring any remains in a common grave in Hollybrook Cemetery.
Burial registers for All Saints were saved from the ruined church building and are available through the Hampshire Archives.
The church building was originally located at GPS coordinates 50.90182,-1.40409. The parish burial ground would have been located near GPS coordinates 50.901335, -1.402150.
