Paul Beard, Sr., was born in North Carolina in 1779; came to Randolph County, Indiana, below, Lynn, near Lynn Meeting House, in the spring of 1817, having married Hannah Pearson in 1803 (born 1778). They had nine children- Obed, Eunice, William, Enoch, Enoch (second), Paul, Hannah, George, John.
Paul Beard was a physician; belonged to the Friends, and died in 1857, aged seventy-seven years four months and twenty-three days. His wife, Hannah Beard, died in 1851, aged seventy-two years, five months and twenty-four days.
He was a noted man in pioneer days, both as a physician and as citizen, being upright, respected and trustworthy, and skillful in his profession.
