Mary Kathryn Eichmann, 84, of Waverly, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Mary was born Feb. 7, 1929 in Waverly, Iowa. She was the daughter of Chris H. and Ruth Ann (Sewell) Leitha.

She attended rural school Warren Nos. 6 and 1. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1947, and then attended Wartburg College.

She worked for Bremer County in social work for ten years before starting her career at Elden's Framing & Photography in Waverly.

On December 18, 1955, she married Elden W. Eichmann at Waverly First Evangalical Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Gena (John) Mackamul of Waverly; two sons, Alan Eichmann and Corby Eichmann, both of Ankeny, Iowa; one grandchild, Lawrence Mackamul; one brother-in-law, Edwin Eichmann, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Elden, on April 10, 2010. He died exactly three years to the day before her and is welcoming her back to him.

According to her wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Iowa. There will be no visitation.

A memorial service was held on Monday, April 22, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Waverly with the Rev. Deborah Coble Wise officiating.

The family greeted other family and friends on Monday from 10 a.m. until the service. Memorials were directed to Trinity United Methodist Church.
