Billy Conn Rotenberry
April 12, 2013

Billy Conn Rotenberry, age 70, died Friday, April 12, 2013 in Water Valley, MS. Billy had recently opened the Pizza Getti restaurant, and he left this life doing what he loved most - cooking and serving good food, surrounded by the people he loved the most, his family.

He was born October 9, 1942 in Oakland, MS to the late Leslie Leo and Eula Mae Guest Rotenberry. He attended Oakland Schools all his life, graduating from Oakland High School in 1960. He went on to Northwest Junior College on a track scholarship and graduated in 1962. He then attended Mississippi State University and graduated in 1971. He coached and taught for three years, then moved to Texas where he worked in, managed and owned several restaurants. In 2001, he "retired" back to Mississippi, where he opened Water Valley Cafe in 2002. He sold the Cafe in 2008 and "retired" again, only to work as a security guard for Guardsmark for two years. He "retired" again in 2010 only to return to what he loved two years later. In February of this year he opened Pizza Getti to carry on the family pizza tradition. Simply put, Billy worked hard until the day he died. In all of his years here on earth, he helped many people in many different ways. He gave eulogies, carried food to the hungry and grieving, volunteered his time to church activities and taking care of his family. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Farmersville, TX and attended First United Methodist Church of Water Valley. He enjoyed gardening, riding around in his pickup truck visiting friends and listening to ballgames, Texas Rangers baseball, and attending MSU football games, where he and his grandson, Jake were season ticket holders. To say he will be missed by many is an enormous understatement.

Visitation is planned for Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 5:00 Pm to 7:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Seven Oaks with Rev. Barry Dickerson and Rev. Allen McGraw officiating.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Peggy Donica Rotenberry; four daughters, Amy Rotenberry Olson (Erik) of Water Valley, MS, India Rotenberry Hale (Matt) of Senatobia, MS, Katie Rotenberry of Water Valley, MS and Leslie Rotenberry (Heath Lail) of Water Valley, MS; three sisters, Dixie Rotenberry Brosseau (Joe) of Pensacola, FL, Gay Rotenberry Brower (Morris) of Philip, MS, and Gwen Rotenberry Graham (Ralph) of Oakland, MS; two brothers, Davie Rotenberry (Marie) of Dodd City, TX and Bobby Rotenberry (Vivian) of Mesquite, TX; and eight grandchildren, Jakob Rotenberry, Anna Hale, Anika Olson, Travis Hale, Jude Rotenberry Baggett, Taryn Mae Hale, Liam Olson and Taylor Hale.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dale Rotenberry.
