John Clay Morris, age 89, of Mullin passed away June 17, 2013 at his home in Mills County. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Cross Plains Memorial Cemetery with Richard Hetzel officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Higginbotham Funeral Home in Cross Plains from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.

He was born on March 25, 1924 in Pioneer to John B. and Eunice Vivian (Cade) Morris. John served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a 3rd Class Gunners Mate on the USDD556 Destroyer and received 16 Campaign Bars. He retired from Sun Oil for 38 years as an offshore Supervisor.

He is survived by his daughter, Melinda and husband Mackey Fraley of Mullin, sister, Jonita Ramirez and husband Diego of Richmond, TX; as well as 7 grandchildren including Jeff Fraley of Carlsbad, NM and Les Fraley of Chicago, IL and several great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, two daughters, Terry Lynn and Carolyn Kolas; two brothers Jack and Billy Dan Morris.

Arrangements are by Higginbotham Funeral Home of Cross Plains.
