David Herman Carr, 78, of Greenup passed away at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at home.

David was born March 8, 1929, in Greenup, the son of Clifford and Edna (Donnelley) Carr. He married Margie J. Kite of Casey July 9, 1950, and she preceded him in death Jan. 30, 1997.

David retired in 1991 after 32 years of work throughout the state with Illinois Department of Transportation Day Labor Division. He also owned a small farm and operated a bulldozer for many years. In 1974, Dave and Marge purchased Perisho's Jewelry and operated it for seven years.

David lived the last 14 years with his daughter and enjoyed his family, coffee gossip with his buddies and playing scratch-off lottery tickets with his brother and friends.

He is survived by his loving family, five sons, David E. (wife, Gayle), Richard (wife, Sue), Daniel (wife, Robin), Dwayne (wife, B.J.), and Douglas (wife, Barbara); two daughters, Karen Sue Carr and Sherry Carr; three sisters, Mary (husband, Harold) Moss, Nellie (husband, Loren) Markwell and Susie (husband, Wayne) Stephens; one brother, John "Boze" (wife, Ethel) Carr; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his two special dog companions, Kaycee and Maycee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, William, Jack and Hank Carr; and sisters, Edith Markwell, Maye Ozier and Ruby Wright.

The funeral service honoring David's life will be held at noon Sunday at Bishop Funeral Home, Greenup, with the Rev. Rick Emrich officiating.

Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Greenup.
