Mrs. Charles Barber died at eleven o'clock this morning, at her home on the corner of Waugoo and Court street. Early in the spring she was attacked with the grip, and it is thought that it was seeds sown by this disease that caused her death. Her health was poor all summer. Six weeks ago she was taken ill with catarrh of the stomach, and it was complications arising from this disease that were the direct cause of her death.
Mrs. Barber's maiden name was Sarah Curwen Jenkins. She was born at Dorchester, MA, Oct. 9, 1856, and she was consequently nearly thirty-five years of age. She was a daughter of the late Captain James Jenkins. When Sarah, or Daisy as she was familiarly called by her friends, was three years old her parents moved to Oshkosh, where she has since resided. As a young lady she was very popular in social circles. She was married Jan. 1, 1880 to Charles Barber. Four children resulted from this union, Bessie, Sallie, Emily and Margaret, the eldest being about eleven years old.
The deceased was a member of Trinity Episcopal church, and all her life she has been a consistent Christian woman, and was beloved by all who knew her. She leaves a large circle of friends to mourn her death. The sincerest sympathy of all is extended to her bereaved husband and mother and relatives in their deep loss.
The arrangements for the funeral have not yet been made, and will not be until relatives in the east are heard from.
