Alphonse Budnik

Alphonse Joseph Budnik, 74, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
A memorial service will be 11:00am Saturday December 7, 2013 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Adrie officiating. His visitation will be two hours prior to his service from 9:00 – 11:00am Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Ottawa Funeral Home.
Alphonse was born September 30, 1939 in Posen, Michigan to Theophilus and Antoinette (Strzelecki) Budnik. He served in the United States Army as a driver on the test road for the development of the Eisenhower Interstate Highway System. As a 30 year member of the Teamsters he drove for Ottawa Cartage, was an owner/operator and ultimately retired from Consolidated Freightways. He was a long time member and supporter of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his children, Bernie (Patty) Budnik of Florida, Natalie Howie of Danville, Larry (Tracie) Budnik of Arizona, Melissa Thorsen of Ottawa, Debbie (Ryan) Garzanelli of Cornell; thirteen grandchildren; brothers Theophilus Jr, Leon, George, Emil, Lawrence and Mitchell; sisters Charolette, Jeanette and Elaine; and his son-in-law, Randy Thorsen of Ottawa.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kevin Budnik; four brothers, Aloysius, Clarence, Patrick and Florian; and two sisters Bernadine and Annette.
