[Lieut. Benjamin Ellis was the son of Samuel Ellis (14 July 1699 - 14 August 1769) and Dorothy Hall (20 May 1700 - 13 May 1790)

Lieut. Benjamin Ellis married Comfort Baker on 27 February 1760 in Sturbridge, Worcester, MA, daughter of Joseph Baker (25 January 1713 - 12 November 1736) and Keziah (Kezia) Mason (29 September 1707 - 09 November 1765); they had nine children

After his first wife died, Benjamin married (2) Hannah Ginnings on 06 March 1794 in Stafford, Tolland, CT, daughter of Robert Ginnings and Sarah Badger; she was born 09 March 1753 in Ashford, Windham, CT and died 08 October 1834 in Monson, Hampden, MA; they had one additional child.

On 10 February 1799 Benjamin Ellis was received into the Church of Monson, by a recommendation from the Second Church in Stafford, CT. He and Hannah were listed as members of Church of Christ in Monson, MA 04 December 1806. Benjamin was listed on the 1810 and 1820 Census report from Monson, Hampden, MA.
