MUSCATINE, Iowa — Robert "Bob" D. Bierman, Sr., 90, of Muscatine, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at Lutheran Homes in Muscatine.

Honorary casketbearers will be Jay Lane, Andrew Ingle, Brett DeVore, Chad Bierman, John Bierman, Heath Daggs, Steve DeVore, Tanner Gandia, Dusty Werling, Tom Marquez and Jeremy Buttram.

Private inurment will be in the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Community Room.

A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Bob's name.

Robert Dietrich Bierman, Sr., was born July 16, 1921, in Muscatine, the son of Henry C. and Ferne E. (Ackers) Bierman. On Sept. 7, 1941, he was united in marriage to Grace B. Newcomb in Kahoka, Mo. Following her passing, he later married Beverly Ann Carruth on Jan. 25, 1979, in Muscatine.

Bob was owner/operator of Bierman's Repair Service and had raised tomatoes for Heinz for many years. He served as school director and past president of the school board at Olive Branch, a justice of the peace and on the levee commission. He was an inventor of sorts and had built his own home. Bob was a past member of the Moose Lodge and the Elks.

Bob will be deeply missed by his wife, Beverly of Muscatine; children, Barb Lane and husband, Dorsey of Muscatine, Robert Bierman, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Moscow, Mike Bierman and wife Sylvia of Yuma, Ariz., Kathi DeVore and husband, Jerry of Muscatine, Judi Daggs of Oelwein, Craig Bierman and wife, Judy of Phelan, Calif., and Mark Bierman of Pinon Hill, Calif.; stepson, Thomas Buttram of Kewanee, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and four step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Grace; daughter, Janet Ingle, step-daughter, Linda Buttram; son-in-law, Carl Daggs; brother, Henry "Corky" Bierman and sister, Dorothy Herlein.
