Jonas was a prominent citizen of Rowe and Myrifield. Deacon of the First Congregational Church of Rowe and a Revolutionary War veteran.

Moses' will, which he executed 2 March 1861 and was filed 16 June 1862, is avail on ancestry.com Case Number 1915, Mass. Probate Files, 1895-1927, recorded Vol. 48 page 56. He was a resident of Rowe. After the decease of his wife Prudence, he gives his friend Solomon Amidon all of his real estate, three shares in the Conway Bank and those in the Connecticut River Rail Road, and one share in the Troy and Greenfield Rail Road, and all his stock and farm assets, provided Solomon remains with and takes suitable care of Prudence during her natural life. He leaves to his friend Martha Sibley $200, after the death of Prudence, for Martha's faithful service to his family. To his wife Prudence he wills all his household furnishings and personal belongings provided she keeps them for Solomon. He appointed Humphrey Gould of Rowe as executor, however, Mr. Gould declined to serve in a note dated 16 June 1862.
