Ida K. (Blodgett) Allis (1916 - 2014)

Ida K. (Blodgett) Allis passed away on Feb. 27, 2014.
Born in Holland, MA, Oct. 10, 1916, she was the daughter of Arthur and Lorinda (Howlett) Blodgett. She attended Hitchcock Free Academy in Brimfield, MA, and High School of Commerce in Worcester, MA.
She was employed many years at the University of Massachusetts in the food service dept.
During her life, she enjoyed many trips such as the World's Fair in Montreal, Canada, and other trips with Morgan Tours. She and her husband visited the Roosevelt Mansion, the Vanderbilt Mansion and the Statue of Liberty.
Her happiest times were spent with her grandsons and her great-grandchildren. All of her ""little ones"" had a special bond with GG. She remembered every birthday and shopped for thoughtful gifts, often taking the PVTA bus until the age of 95.
She will be remembered as one of the least-selfish people we have known and as a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and friend. At the age of 97, struggling with her failing health, she still made sure to smile for all her ""little ones"" and give hugs to all.
She leaves a son, Charles H. Allis Jr. and wife Dale of Conway, MA; a daughter, Linda M. Dufresne of Sunderland, MA, and a stepdaughter, JoAnne O'Brien of Dover Plains, N.Y. She also leaves her grandsons, Michael J. Dufresne and wife Lori, sons, Joseph, Jayden and Bruin of Ashfield, MA, Mark C. Dufresne and wife Samantha, sons Zebadiah and Zeke of Gray, ME, Charles Allis and wife Erin, sons Hunter, Weston and Gabrien of East Hampton, CT, and Justin Allis and wife Melissa, children Grettle, Lincoln, Dyna and Briar of Conway, MA.
Her family would also like to thank each and every nurse and aide and especially her ""green coats,"" her favorite Hospice ladies, for the care, concern and love given to her during her stay at Poet's Seat Health Care Center.
Burial will be in the spring at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
