A Portuguese Subject, has lived chiefly in England since 1829, is a Member of Lincolns Inn, and intends to practice as a Special Pleader, & to reside permanently in the United Kingdom. 21 years of age.
Granted 1st March 1849.

The memorial of the undersigned Pedro d'Alcantara Travassos Valdez sheweth
That your memorialist is a subject of Her Most Faithful Majesty Joana Maria the second by the Grace of God Queen of Portugal and the Algarve &c &c &c is a student of Lincoln's Inn and a bachelor twenty-one years of age, born Octr. 4th 1827, has no fixed residence but is now lodging at 27 Orchard Street Portman Square
That your memorialist usually resides in the Metropolis, is a pupil of John Welch Esqre. of 6 Westbourne Place Westbourne Terrace and 3 Kingsbench Walk Inner Temple both in the county of Middlesex
That your memorialist has lived chiefly in England since the year 1829 and has since he was about a year old resided with a British family namely Mrs Hunter now deceased the widow & Mary & Jemima Hunter daughters of the Revd. Robert Hunter D.D. late Rector of Okeford Fitzpaine Dorset who are now residing at 27 Orchard St.
That your memorialist is a member of the Honourable and learned society of Lincolns Inn, intends to pursue the study of the law and to practise as a special pleader or barrister and to reside permanently within the United Kingdom
That your memorialist's chief object in seeking naturalization is to remove all difficulties in practising the law and that his secondary object is to be relieved from the other disabilities under which aliens labour which if they may be safely removed in any case may be so in that of your memorialist who has received an English education, speaks the English language as a native, and the Portuguese imperfectly, has never been in Portugal except for a few weeks and has from his infancy associated almost exclusively with British subjects and served her Majesty as a special constable during the recent disturbances.
Your memorialist therefore prays your Rt. Hon. Secretaryship to grant him forthwith a certificate of naturalization in pursuance of the Statute 7 & 8 Victoria chapter 66 without reserving any disabilities except those which are reserved by the said Statute.
And your memorialist will ever pray for her Majesty's welfare
