Clement W. "Clem" Foltz, 84, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, July 8, 2006, at his residence, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and surrounded by his family.

Clement William Foltz was born to Stephen and Mary (Wemhoff) Foltz on April 7, 1922 in Humphrey, Neb. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in rural Humphrey. Clem served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942-45. He married Kathryn Dohmen on Feb. 14, 1946 in Leigh, Neb. In 1950, they moved to Callaway, where they farmed and became members of the Assumption Catholic Church Parish. In 1958, they began Foltz Trucking. Both the farming and trucking operations were sold to their sons. In 1990, they moved to Detroit Lakes and became members of Holy Rosary Catholic Church Parish.

Clem is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathryn Foltz of Detroit Lakes; five daughters, Donna (Bill) Martin amd Jane Lunde, both of Detroit Lakes, Rosemary (Bud) Janousek of Edina, Minn., Sharon (Jack) of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Theresa (Tim) Thunder and her husband of Buffalo Point, Manitoba, Canada; eight sons, Jim Foltz of Minneapolis, David (Carol), Tom (Bev) and Frank Foltz, all of Detroit Lakes, Roger (Jane) Foltz of Callaway, Father Mike Foltz of Moorhead, Allan (Kristi) Foltz of Callaway and Ken (Helen) Foltz of Detroit Lakes; 40 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one brother, Wilfred (Doris) Foltz; four sisters, Eleanor, Dorothy, Sister Valeria and Phil (Tony); and a son-in-law, Fran Esser of Redfield, S.D. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Laura Esser; a granddaughter, Amanda Foltz; one sister, Ludwina; and six brothers, Henry, Paul, Bill, Joe, Alfred, and Stanley.

A mass of Christian burial was scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Detroit Lakes. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Callaway.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred sent to Holy Rosary Catholic School and Hospice of the Red River Valley, Detroit Lakes. The David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes is serving the family.
