John D. Dos Passos, age 84, of Weston, beloved husband of Theresa Bouyea Dos Passos, died on Friday, December 17, 2010 in the Hospital of St. Raphael.

Born in New York City on January 21, 1926, he was a son of the late Louis Hays and Grace Quinn Dos Passos and a Major in the U.S. Army during World War II and the National Guard.

Mr. Dos Passos graduated from Fordham University with a degree in Physics and later earned an engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He worked as a professional engineer for the Parsons Corp. in Saudi Arabia for 12 years, after retiring from the New York State Construction Fund. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Tampa, FL where he served as a Grand Knight.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, survivors include five children, John Dos Passos II and his wife Karen of Florida, Susan Taylor and her husband Gene of Maryland, Lisa Benzing and her husband John of Arizona, Pamela Beutler and her husband Greg of Weston and Kristin Krieg and her husband Paul of New Jersey, a sister, Mary Singleton of New York City, 10 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Augustine Cathedral, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in support of his daughter Pamela's participation in The Leukemia & Lymphoma half marathon in March 2011.
