French born Juliette Colbert came from an aristocratic family with several of them ending up beheaded during the French Revolution, she married Marquis Carlo Tancredi Falletti di Barolo on August 18, 1806. Settling in Turin by 1814 at the Palazzo Barolo, the couple, which remained childless, decided to adopt as their own the poor of the city, which was than attracting migrants from the countryside. Opening free schools and founding the construction of the Monumental Cemetery of Turin, they founded the Congregation of the Daughters of Jesus the Good Shepherd and the Sisters of St. Anne. Assisting Saint John Bosco in his humanitarian projects for the youth, years after her death in 1899, her casket was laid to rest at the church of Santa Giulia which she had constructed in 1862. Pope Francis declared her venerable in 2015.
