Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 7:00 PM on Wednesday August 3, 2011 at the St. Edward Catholic Church; 10990 313th Ave in North Plains.

Betty ws born on September 6, 1928 in St. Helena, NE. She was third of four children born to Arthur and Helen (Wubben) Becker. She was raised in Hartington, NE, and received her education there. She attended Holy Trinity High School and graduated with the Class of 1946.

She met her future husband, Milton Schmidt at a dance; they soon started dating and were married on June 10, 1947 in Bow Valley, NE. Following their marriage they made their home in Yanton, SD until 1953 when they moved to Gresham, OR. In 1956 they moved to Hillsboro, OR. In 1971 they moved back to St. Helena, NE. Due to the fact that Betty's health could not stand the climate in NE, they moved back to Oregon in 1972. They found their "dream" home in Banks, Oregon, where they lovingly called "The Last Chance Ranch". In 2006 Betty moved into Jennings McCall in Forest Grove because of her health.

Betty was a homemaker and a loving mother to her eight children. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting and canning. She was always Milton's best right hand helper. Whether it was remodeling their home, building furniture, or any of the several projects they did together, she was always right there doing whatever she could do to help. Betty and Milton enjoyed camping, fishing, and clam digging together. They were also very social and enjoyed traveling to visit family in the Midwest.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, two sons, Derald and Dean Schmidt and two brothers; Xavier and Odillo Becker.

Survivors include her daughters and husbands: Donna Rae and Dale Heninckx of North Plains, OR; Debora and David Brix of LePine, OR; Jean and Jerry Cheatham of Forest Grove, OR: Joan and Fred Gomes of Hillsboro, OR and Janice Schmidt and friend Zeke Reyes of Cornelius, OR; her son and daughter-in-law: Daniel and Therese Schmidt of Forest Grove, OR, brother and sister-in-law; Artie and Margie Becker of Yankton, SD. 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests donations in Betty's name to St. Edward Catholic Church, North Plains, Oregon.
