Abigail was the daughter of Thomas Hale and Mary Kimball of Brookfield, Mass. She was married first in Brookfield on 1 Feb 1787 to Jonathan Wood, the son of Jonathan Wood and Sarah Reddington of Boxford. Abigail had six known children with Jonathan. Following Jonathan's accidental death at the age of 45, Abigail married Deacon Parker Spofford, the widower of Jonathan Wood's sister, Mary.
