God was ready for George E. Myers, 90, of Allentown, formerly of Northampton, who died Friday March 11, 2016 at Phoebe Home. Born November 22, 1925, he was the son of the late Ruth and Elvin Myers, George was the husband of the late Delores "Dolly" Myers for 68 years.

He played 2nd string football at Liberty High School. A US Navy Veteran of WWII, he was stationed at the Pensacola NAS as an aviation mechanic (AMM1/c). He worked at sheet metal layout and a CNC programmer at the former Fuller Company for 30 years. George was a member of the Northampton Lions and a 4 Chaplains Award recipient. He built two homes, was a hunter, enjoyed crafting (as if he had a choice), and made stained glass for the family.

He loved church, friends and family, enjoyed putzin', and telling corny jokes. He was an active church member of Grace United Church of Christ, Northampton, and former member of the Church of the Manger, Bethlehem, serving on church councils and choir. George was member and enjoyed attending the Raccoon Club, Seemsville. To all who knew him George was a real "GEM".

Survivors: Sons, Steve and wife Joan Matura, George and wife Nancy. Grandchildren, Donavin Judy, Thomas Diehl, Jasen Judy. Great grandchildren, Jacob Judy, Amber and Cooper Diehl. Sisters, Kathleen wife of Clayton Hinkel, Margery wife of Marvin Wolfe. Nieces, Nancy (Barry) Godusky, Joan Dankel (Kurt), Anne (Bruce) Rohrbach. Nephew, Lee (Karen) Hinkel.

Services: 10:00AM Saturday, Grace United Church of Christ, 9th Street and Lincoln Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067. Call, 7-8:30PM Friday, Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA 18067 and 9-10:00AM Saturday in church. Interment with Military Honors, Bethlehem Memorial Park, Linden Street.
