William G. Denker was born on February 11, 1899 and died on February 2, 1972. He was baptized on the 23rd of April, 1899, in Elk creek, Nebraska and was confirmed on March 16th, 1913 at St. Paul's Church, Johnson County, Nebraska.

In 1920 he and his family moved to a farm south of Enders at which time he became a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. On October 26th, 1922 he married Bertha K Bischoff. In March of 1931 they moved to a farm southwest of Wauneta, where his son, Lavern and family now live. In March of 1951 they moved to Wauneta where they resided until his death. William had been in ill health for 2 years before being hospitalized on January 18, 1972. He passed away at the age of 72 years, 11 months and 23 days.

While he and his wife lived in the Wauneta area, he served a number of years as a Trustee and Elder in the church and as the director of the Southwest Public Power District for 21 years, until his retirement because of ill health.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by four sisters, Mary, who died in infancy, Louise, Emma, and Ella, and by one brother, August.

He is survived by two brothers, Edward and Henry of Wauneta; one sister, Anna Bischoff of Emporia; by his wife, Bertha; by one son, LaVern; by one daughter, Lois Greeley; one daughter-in-law Elinor Denker; one son-in-law, Richard Greeley; and by five grandchildren, Rhona and Rochelle Greeley, Terry and Lynn Denker, and Patricia Polly and her husband, Don.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Services were held Saturday, February 5, 1972 at 1:30 p.m. from St. Paul's Lutheran Church south of Wauneta, with Rev. Stephen Ude officiating. St. Paul's choir sang "Jesus Savior Pilot Me" and "I'm But a Stranger Here." Pallbearers were William Denker, Dale Bischoff, Lynn Denker, Elmer Bischoff, Kenneth Denker and Orville Shlute. Interment was at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery with Brunkhorst Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
