Within this tomb lie interred the remains of the late
Reverend ROBERT PATERSON who was twenty two years Minister of this Parish, and died upon the 31st July 1790, in the 50th year of his age - he was eminent for the faithful discharge of his Pastoral office - and as a husband and father he was nearly as perfect as human nature will admit.
Here also lie the remains of
ALEXANDER PATERSON his third son who survived his father only nine
months having died upon the 13th April 1791, in the 17th year of his age after having finished his academical studies he was snatched from the
transitory life to the inexpressible grief of all his relatives.
