Edwin Karl Recknagel was born September 27, 1934 the son of Karl and Mona Foglesong Recknagel and passed away April 4, 2017.

Doc was a graduate of Enid High School in 1951 and then received his Doctorate of Dentistry in 1960 from UMKC in Kansas City, MO. He practiced dentistry in Enid for over forty years. He owned Chessmen Racing, where he built and raced cars. He enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors. Doc served on the Garfield County Sheriffs Auxiliary, was a life member of the NRA and a member of the Shelby Club of America.

Survivors include four children, Tammy Ray and her husband Jesse of Fort Smith, AR, Karl Recknagel and his wife Dayla of Enid, Chris Recknagel and his wife Sharon of Mustang, OK and Erin Recknagel of Yukon, OK, eight grandchildren, Josh Ray and his wife Sarah, Jacob Ray and his wife Haley, Kyle Recknagel, Blake Recknagel, Corban Recknagel, Cade Recknagel, Camden Recknagel and Caitlyn Recknagel and two great-grandchildren, Hudson Ray and Harrison Ray and a long- time friend, Myra Wandry.

A Celebration of Life will be Friday, April 7, 2017, 4:00 PM at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Edmison officiating. Private inurnment will be in the Enid Cemetery.
