Mr. Eugene Quinton Bowen, 72, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 6, 2007, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
A native and life-long resident of Pierce County, he had worked as a delivery man & repair man for a gas company but had also worked in the plumbing business. He was a member of the Youmans Chapel Baptist Church and was a son of the late Thomas Malachi & Mallie Etta Roberson Bowen. Mr. Bowen was also preceded in death by a sister, Clara Bowen, and four brothers, Cornelius Bowen, Kent Bowen, Robert T. Bowen & Walt Bowen.
Survivors are his wife, Virginia Smith Bowen of Blackshear; two daughters and sons-n-law, Cheryl & Dale Ellis of Hortense and Sarah & Buddy Smith of Waycross; a son and daughter-n-law, Thomas & Pamela Bowen of Blackshear; two sisters and a brother-n-law, Louise & Harvey Thornberry of Ohio and Margaret Votaw of Waycross; three brothers and two sisters-n-law, Jack T. & Mae Bowen and Mitchell & Norene Bowen all of Blackshear and John Q. Bowen of Waycross; 9 grandchildren, Gilbert Dale Ellis, Jr., Thomas Ellis, Jennifer Butler, Robert Ellis, Rebekah Smith, Zeke Smith, Christina Bowen, Mathew Bowen & Meagan Bowen and several nieces, nephews & other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Bowen will be held Thursday, February 8, 2007, at 2:00 o'clock from the Pearson-Treadwell Chapel.
Interment will be in the Waters Cemetery.
Visitation for Mr. Bowen will be held Wednesday evening, February 7, 2007, from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
