Angier - Brenda Marie Medlin, went to be in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Mid-way Baptist Church, 6910 Fayetteville Road, Raleigh, NC. Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Willow Spring. Brenda was born to the late, James and Ida Whitaker.
She was also preceded in death by her niece, Sandra Eder and friend, Barbara Bain.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Jack Medlin; daughter, Jill Long; son, Eddie Adams; stepson, David Medlin; granddaughters, Jessie and Jenna Long; grandson, Alan Adams; step-grandsons, Jackson and Luke Medlin; step-granddaughters, Lydia and Anna Parrish; brothers, James (Clara) Whitaker and Carlton (Gail) Whitaker; and sister, Pat (Arthur Thomas) Thigpen.
Brenda graduated from Garner High School Class of 66. She was in mortgage banking and ended up opening her own business, Wake Properties, for many years. She loved gardening, flowers and vegetables, and canned what she and Jack grew. She was a wonderful cook and everybody will miss her famous pound cake. Brenda's big love was for her preschool children she taught through Mid-Way Baptist Church. She had a hugh family that adored her, a host of friends and a big church family. She had a sweet humble spirit and a beautiful smile. Until we meet again our sweet squirrel.
