Josephine “Jo” Laura Washkovick, age 98 of Ripon, WI passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Maplecrest in Ripon.

Jo was born on September 12, 1919 in Berlin, WI to Frank and Laura (Sweda) Kalupa at their home on N8802 County Road FF outside of Berlin. Jo attended Bush Grade School and graduated from Berlin High School in 1936. She worked various jobs, but her most unique trade was being a welder at The Berlin Foundry during WWII.

Jo was united in marriage to Raymond Martin Washkovick at 8:00 am on Saturday, September 5, 1942 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Berlin. They were blessed with twin sons, Roger and Raymond “Tiny”and a daughter, Peggy. In later years Jo worked at the Green Giant Canteen and then retiring after many years at Hospitality Unlimited (Mike Mihaley) Food Service at Ripon College.

Jo enjoyed reading, talking about history, traveling, playing cards (Sheephead), bingo, watching Judge Judy and The Milwaukee Brewers.

Jo is survived by her son, Roger (Margie Walker) Washkovick and a daughter Peggy Adamski, both of Ripon, WI; grandchildren, Kim (Mark) Gibson, Kathy (Bill) Curtis, Brenda (Jon Stellmacher) Washkovick, Amy (Tim Rusch) Washkovick, Jeffrey (Andrea) Washkovick; one step-granddaughter, Melissa Adamski; great-grandchildren, Taylor Curtis, Ashley Gibson, Kelsey Kasten, Bianca Curtis, Kayla (Dan Krueser) Gibson, Colin Curtis, Katie (Kenny) Jones, Ellie Curtis, Joslyn Washkovick, and Vivian Washkovick; step-great-grandsons, Jordan Weinkauf and Austyn Rodensal. She is further survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends. Also treasured by special friends like daughters and son, Patti (Robin) Duffy, Michele Wyer-Benson, and Jim and Rose Laneri.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband; grandparents; parents; a son, Raymond Washkovick, Jr.; brothers and sisters, Leonard Kalupa, Isabelle Jezwinski, Clifford Kalupa, infant sister, Mary Kalupa, Edward Kalupa, and Lewis Kalupa; son-in-law Sylvester “Sy” Adamski, Jr.; other nieces; nephews; and friends.

A visitation for Jo will be held from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971, with a Rosary at 7:00 pm, and again from 9:30 am until 10:30 am on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 Blossom St., Ripon, WI 54971.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jo will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with Reverend Robert A. Fictum officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Dartford Rd, Town of Ripon, WI. Per Josephine's wishes, in lieu of flowers or plants, please consider a donation to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 Blossom St., Ripon, WI 54971 or the Berlin Senior Center, 142 Water St., Berlin, WI 54923.

Josephine's family would like to thank the entire staff at Maplecrest for the wonderful care given to her during her time there. Also thanks to Southern Care Hospice Services for the extra caring assistance during Jo's last days.
