Marmarou, Anthony, Ph. D., Nemuth Distinguished Professor and Vice Chair of Research in the Department on Neurosurgery, VCU School of Medicine, died late Friday, peacefully surrounded by family and now rests with God. Professor Marmarou also served as the Technical Director of the American Brain Injury Consortium and the International Epilepsy Consortium, Co-Director of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus Clinic and Professor of Radiology, Biomedical Engineering, and Physiology.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Rose Marie Marmarou; and lives eternally through his daughters, Dr. Christina Marmarou and Mrs. Valere Lawler and her husband, Mr. Michael Lawler. He is also survived by grandchildren.
Dr. Anthony Marmarou was born on March 15, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George and Irene Marmarou. He is survived by his brothers and their wives, Mr. and Mrs. Stratos and Ann Marmarou, Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Marianne Marmarou; and sister, Mrs. Anna Trantus.

To celebrate the life and accomplishment of their dear husband, father, and grandfather, who is now with the angels, a funeral service was held Friday, January 29, at 12 noon at the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, at 30 Malvern Avenue, in Richmond, Virginia 23231, followed by an Interment service at the Westhampton Cemetery.
