Jonathan Mejia was the youngest of 5 children born to parents Martha Mejia and Raphael Mejia (1957-2001). He graduated from Corona Senior High in the Class of 2005 and then from Riverside Community College (RCC) in the class of 2008. In 2016 he was briefly employed at the Walmart in Corona and then moved to Austin,TX on February 2017. In May 2017 he was employed at Austin Pets Alive animal shelter where he did what he loved which was pet care. Though Jonathan was a sweet and kind person it didn’t spare him from the worst the world had to offer. At midnight August 1 2019 at his apartment in Austin, Johnathan committed suicide by gunshot. His body was brought back to Southern California just days later. His Funeral was held August 10,2019 at the LDS chapel on 1510 Taber street Corona, California. The opening hymn was “the Lord’s Prayer”. The eulogy was given by his brother Roberto Rivera and the speakers at his funeral were Natllely Green (sister), Christian Mejia (brother), Fatima Cordova (sister), Darrel Hernandez (cousin), Rey Barraza Jr (cousin) and Matha Mejia (mother). The closing hymn was “God be with you till we meet again”. His casket was then taken in a white herse to crestlawn cemetery where his brown casket was taken carried to his final resting place by his pallbearers: Christian Mejia, Rey Barraza Jr, Gabriel Barraza (cousin), James Green (brother in law), Roberto Rivera and Gerardo Barraza (cousin). Before the casket was put in the ground the farewell talks were given by Reynaldo Barraza (Uncle) and Gerardo Barraza. The casket was buried while the song “tears in heaven” was being played by two of Jonathan’s friends. Jonathan will always be remembered as a friendly giant who simply wanted to make the world a better place. He enjoyed Video Games, Pet Care, Cooking, Doctor Who, Dragon Ball Z, My Chemical Romance and taking care of his mother. He will always be remembered by his his famous words “Relax, be good, be safe”.

His family described him as a friendly giant. He was passionate about Japanese culture,Anime,video games, animal care, my chemical romance, Dr.Who and cooking. He's survived by his mother,2 brothers, 2 sisters, 7 cousins and countless friends.
