Jose was the son of Venancio Vargas and Ruperta Martinez. He married Maria Paz Sosa Martinez on December 14 1954 together he fathered 8 children with 3 that died as infants. He worked as a bread seller in the streets of El Salvador and those who tried said it was the best bread they had ever tasted. He was also a singer and guitar play with hopes of someday being able to sing in an evangelical church choir which he eventually did for a time in the 1970s. He was always a hard worker and remained though through many situations especially when he had to bury his spouse of 51 years who he lost to diabetes. For the last 10 years, he found peace in his family and the evangelical hymns he loved to sing. On January 27, 2013, he was baptized in Riverside, California as a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. On September 11, 2015, he went to the hospital in Zacamil complaining about a stomach problem. He passed away right after surgery on the morning of September 13, 2015, and was buried right beside his spouse a few days later. He is survived by his 5 children Arturo, Silvia, Blanca, Mario, and Walberto. He was a kind and thoughtful man in his final years. He was a big fan of Cantinflas, Tin Tan, and Pedro Infante, He even loved to get a laugh out of movies like the Blues Brothers and Shrek. He worked hard his whole life and now he can rest.
