Elise Kreuzer was the daughter of Heinrich Kreuzer (1819-1900), a well-known Austrian Jewish opera singer who served as director of the Court Theatre in Coburg and in 1870 that of the municipal theatre in Koblenz. She was married morganatically at Astheim on June 7, 1868 to Prinz Paul von Thurn und Taxis, who was created Herr von Fels by King Ludwig II of Bavaria on June 19, 1868. They had one son, Heinrich von Fels, who was born January 30, 1867.
