Nedda Wail Hammoudi Alali, 58, passed away peacefully October 10, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones, after a three-year battle with ALS. Nedda was born October 15, 1961 in Cardiff, Wales to Wail Hammoudi and Ann Margaret Cook, but spent her childhood in England and Iraq with her mother, father, and younger sister, Shatha Hammoudi. Nedda and Nabil Alali are high school sweethearts that met in 1978, and they have been together ever since.
Nedda, the owner of an uninterrupted smile, was a fiercely passionate and high energy woman that sought out the beauty that nature offered her with an eye for design and an impeccable taste. Utilizing these gifts, she spent most of her career working in fashion with an affinity not only for the finer things in life, but also the creativity it promoted inside of her. Nedda loved being outdoors and being active. She spent her summers by the pool, or on the beach. She loved to host with an attitude of grateful abundance, always making room for one more. She was more than just great company; she was a great dancer, an unbelievable chef, and an incomparable DJ.
She loved her three surviving daughters; Yassmin, Shereen, and Tatyana, and her grandson, Zabi Zayd. Traveling in a wheelchair to the hospital, Nedda is remembered feeling extremely joyous holding her first grandson for the first time. Watching Zabi grow, and the knowledge of future grandchildren to come became her delight in her last months of life. Her legacy is carried by these three strong, intelligent women and loving husband that cherish her memory as a marvelous mother, best friend and confidant. Nedda’s mindfulness and journey became not only a living example, but also a mantra for her family to always live your life to the fullest because tomorrow is never promised.
