Tommy was born on November 4, 1948, to Ottis and Hazel (Beam) Fields in Gorman, Texas.
He was united in marriage to Vickie Lynn (Brown) on July 28, 1973, in Comanche, Texas.
He retired from 23 years of service in the US Army, receiving the Bronze Star Medal, 2-Meritorious Medals, 5-Army Commendation Medals, 6-Good Conduct Medals, 2-National Defense Medals, Vietnam Service Medal with 5 service stars, NCO Prof. Development Ribbon, Army & Overseas Service Ribbons, Rep. of Vietnam Gallantry Cross, Rep of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a member of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara. He also worked as a postal employee.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie; two sons, Eric and Jim; grandchildren, Wade, Caleb, and Talan; great-granddaughter, Ellie; sister, Doris; and brother, Paul.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ottis and Hazel (Beam) Fields, and brothers, David and Bobby.
