Adam Braun was born in Holland in 1829. He emi- grated to the U.S. where he met and married a Indiana woman named Mary.

In 1864 well traveling west in the Montana territory, Mary gave birth to thier only child Francis (Frank) Braun.

In 1870 The Braun family moved to the now thriving town of Green River Wyoming. In 1871 Adam decides to start his own business as a brewmaster and builds a wooden frame structure.

In 1872 the Green River Brewery is finally complete and opens it's doors to the public. The new brewery sat on the banks of the river for 4 years until the spring of 1876 when it was washed away by the spring floods. That same year the loyal customers of the Brewery helped Braun reestablished his business, putting the new Brewery West on Railroad Avenue. On April 5th, 1880 Braun sold the Green River Brewery to Jos. Pelikan and Karl Spinner. In 1883 Braun and his wife moved to a ranch near Maxon mine, there he engaged in the live stock industry and became very successful from it.

On Nov 12, 1903 Adam Braun died at the age of 74 at his ranch.

Adam Braun one of the oldest pioneers of Sweetwater county died en his ranch at Maxon on Friday: Nov. 12th, in the 74th year of his age. Mr. Braun came west in 1864 and in 1871 established a brewery at Green River, which he conducted for a number of years on the banks of the river. At one time his brewery was washed away by the spring floods; but eastern men had such. confidence in Mr. Braun's integrity and business ability that they assisted him in reestablishing the business. The outgrowth of this enterprise has been the building up of the Sweetwater Brewing Co., one of the largest and most successful breweries in the Rocky Mountains.

In 1888, Mr. Braun took up his residence near Maxon mine during which time he has been successfully engaged in the live stock industry. He leaves a wife and one son to mourn his loss. Mr. Braun was a man of sterling character and en- joyed the respect and friendship of many of the citizens of Wyoming during a long and useful career.
