Mr. George Edward Crawford, 79, of Waycross died Tuesday morning at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House after an extended illness. He was born in Hickox, Georgia to the late Spencer Crawford and Mary Jane O'Neal Crawford. Mr. Crawford was raised in Brantley County but had lived the past thirty years in Ware County. He worked for First Baptist Church of Waycross and also for Fred Leverett's Amaco Station. Mr. Crawford attended New Hope Advent Christian Church. He loved to fish and ride his bicycle. Mr. Crawford will always be remembered as a hard worker who loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren, and the time he spent with them. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Clarice Crawford and a brother, Talmadge Crawford.

Mr. Crawford is survived by two sons, Edward Crawford and his fiancé Linda Dean of Waycross, James Crawford of Waycross, three grandchildren, Angela Sweat and her husband Ryan of Waycross, Crystal Hensley and her fiancé Dennis Mock of Waycross, Aaron Hensley and his wife Jeri of Waycross, six great grandchildren, Kerrigan Sweat, Cash Sweat, Amber Steedley, Destiny Hensley, Nicholas Hensley, Simon Hensley and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Friday in Thomas Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday morning beginning at 10:30 a.m., at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to Miles-Odum Funeral Home, 130 Screven Ave., Waycross, Georgia 31501.
