He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater on the USS Intrepid. Before his retirement he was employed with U.S. Steel as an electrician. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 3, in Hibbing, the NRA and St. Leo's Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his daughters: Susan Orlich and Marie Breit; sons: Patrick and Kevin Breit; brother, John; sister, Betty; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; son, Dan (Denise) Breit; daughter, Jane C. Breit; sister, Virginia Nelson; and 12 grandchildren.
