Son of Kenneth W. Edwards and Betty (Flickinger) who died when he was an infant. Gayle grew up in Longmeadow, MA raised with the help of his stepmother, Lucy. He had a son Brain in a previous marriage and another son, David residing in Arizona. In his marriage to Deanne Brochu in 1969, he raised four stepsons David, Donald, Daniel and Dennis Cote and fathered a set of twins; Douglas Dayle and Debora Dawn Edwards. After graduation he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed for 5 years in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. He was given the nickname of "Frosty". Gayle was a talented graphic artist. His talents were put to use in the Air Force where he painted graphics on airplanes. Gayle owned a sign and graphic business in Greenfield Ma for 30 years, up until his death. He was an active member of the Greenfield Elks Lodge 1296 and the Polish American Citizens Club, a member of the Bernardston Chapter of the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club, the Franklin County Boating Club and the Green River Bowmen's Club. He donated his talents to many organizations.
