His mother went to Rochester, Minnesota where she underwent surgery for cancer, but never rallied from the surgery and died on Sunday morning, May 3rd.

He and his wife Minnie were married in 1923, and lived on a farm west of Papillion. Later they moved onto the Spearman farm east of Springfield, where their son Clarence started to school. A few years later they rented the Trumble farm 2 miles east and south of Papillion.

After the death of his father, he and his brother bought their sisters share of the home farm south of Papillion and farmed it together. After the death of his brother, his sister in law wanted the farm divided. He continued farming this land, until he finally decided to cut back on his farming operation and rented it.

Lester starting raising Holstein milk cows and shipping the milk to market. He also started with sheep, feeding, shearing, and raising some lambs.

In 1944 he bought a farm a mile east of Papillion, and continued with the cows, putting in milking machines, and expanded his feeding and shearing sheep.

He was active in Farm Bureau, Grange and his church. Was President of the Sarpy County Farm Bureau for a number of years, and was the first Nebraska Farm Bureau Insurance Chairman.

Lester loved to travel. Their first trip was to take his Aunt May and her husband to visit his Uncle Will in Rosebud, South Dakota. Later they starting going on Farm Study tours around the world. They visited in Europe, South America, the Orient, Africa, and Australia. Later they sold the farm and retired to their new home in Papillion.

Besides his love of travel, he started a coin collection. Some from the countries they had traveled in, but a great American money collection. He had one of every silver dollar from the U. S. except one. He was never able to obtain that one.

He moved with his daughter to El Paso, Texas, where he passed away on December 23, 1993.
