Charlotte Ann Goering was born on December 27, 1929, at home in Brandon, Minnesota, the daughter of Jacob and Hortulana (Kracher) Goering, the middle child in a family of 11 children. She was always a good student. She attended grade school in Brandon and went to St. Francis High School in Little Falls for her freshman year.

When Charlotte was 14 years old she developed a brain tumor that required surgery. Although disabled after surgery, Charlotte did eventually learn to walk again with the use of a cane and went on to master a three-wheeled bicycle. She loved to play cards, sharing many games with her numerous nieces and nephews and playing daily with her mother. Charlotte was a life-long companion to Hortulana. The two have lived together at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home since 1996.

Charlotte passed away on August 3, 2004 at the Knute Nelson Memorial Home at the age of 74.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jacob, in 1980 and an infant brother, Cloud.

She is survived by her mother: Hortulana; brothers: James (Virginia) Goering; David (Shirley) Goering; Charles (Marita) Goering; Edward (Kay) Goering; and Daniel (Lorilei) Goering; sisters: Johanna Lambertz; Cyrilla (Albert) Brixius; Hortulana (Arthur) Van Sloun; Christella (Dennis) Korkowski; and Rebecca (Wayne) Chounard; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Brandon on August 6, 2004 with Reverend Eugene Lemm, Reverend Richard Heid, Reverend Joseph Goering and Reverend Michael Van Sloun officiating. Evelyn Lanners was the organist and Aaron Freed was the pianist. Vocalists were Debra Korkowski, Andrew, Albert and Christopher Brixius, Barbara Knier and Sharon Ruhoff.
