DICKSON -- Funeral services for John Spann Hooper, 40, of Grapevine, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 10, from the chapel of Spann Funeral Home in Dickson, Tenn., (615) 446-1123. Interment will be in Liberty Church Cemetery, where four generations of John's family are buried.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, and from noon until time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Hooper died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at his home.

Mr. Hooper was a graduate of Belmont University, where he was a member of the golf team for four years and qualified for the NAIA Tournament. He was a member of Harpeth Hills Church of Christ.

His family includes his parents, Gene and Vera Hooper of Cookeville; two daughters, Callaway and Abbey Hooper, both of Franklin; and a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Gina Hooper of Cookeville.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Bost, Kevin Dobbs, Jeff Duncan, Matt Wright, Jeff Apple, Mike Honea, John Maxwell and Malcom Rios.

Memorial donations may be made to the Liberty Cemetery Fund, c/o Spann Funeral Home, 1961 Hwy. 48, Dickson, TN 37055.
