Miss Bessie Lee Jacobs, 98, died Tuesday (September 17, 2002) at Baptist Village following an extended illness.
She was a native of Brantley County, but she had resided in Waycross for many years. She was the daughter of the late Alvin Bertram (Bert) Jacobs and Hattie Walker Jacobs.
Miss Jacobs was a teacher for 47 years, and she taught in several different schools in the Waycross area and other places. She was a graduate of Georgia Southern University and received her masters' degree from Appalachian State in Boone, North Carolina. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.
The survivors include two sisters, Lora Shafer of Portsmouth, Virginia, Undine Jacobs of Nahunta, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday night from 6 until 8 o'clock.
