Memorial update a/o November 11, 2012:

Sparse Evans family group sheets on file in the Fairfield Public library genealogy collection only allude to Mary's maiden name as possibly being "Moore". That family group sheet was made several years ago, leaving open further research.

Upon receipt of a SAC requesting parent links for Mary to be made, all things considered based on various other sources found and certain family trees found on Ancestry.com these parent relationship links are being made. Although the exact relationship may never be 100% proven, the research done is sufficient to warrant the links being made.

If additional information is found to the contrary, or provides further clarification, this memorial will be updated accordingly.

Mary's obituary did not mention the names of her parents, and there are no 1869 death records available in Jefferson County (birth and death records were not mandated to be kept until 1880 in Iowa) to provide firm clarification. The obituary did tell where she was born, and that information combined with census materials provides some indication that her parents were Samuel and Mary Moore.
