Samuel Childers Dies At 54
ROYAL CENTER - Samuel M. Childers, 54, of
Burrows, was found dead at 5 p.m. Saturday
in an apartment in Royal Center that he has
recently rented.
Cass County Deputy Coroner Max Metzger
placed the time of death at 1 a.m. June 5.
Born Sept. 3,1925, in Bowling Green, Ky., he
was the son of James and Claudia Martin
Childers. He was married May 2, 1947, in
Sellersburg, to Ethel Price, who preceded
him in death Jan. 9,1980.
He had retired in 1975 as a maintenance
foreman with the Louisville Cement Co. in
Logansport.
He was a member of the Royal Center Masonic
Lodge and Eastern Star and the Scottish Rite,
Fort Wayne Valley. He was a veteran of World
War II, having served in the Army.
Survivor's include two daughters, Mrs. Sandra
Berkshire. Burrows; and Mrs. Winona Scott, Rt.
2, Camden; a brother, Hugh, Middletown, Ky.;
two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Nash, Scottsburg; and
Mrs. Jessaline Smith, Rt. 2, Borden; and
four grandchildren.
One son, one daughter, two brothers and a
sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday
at the Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home at Royal
Center. Burial will be in Woodville Cemetery
near Burrows.
Friends may call at the funeral home after
2 p.m. Monday.
Masonic services will be at 8:30 p.m. Monday.
