Walter worked for Delmarva Power and Light Co. He was survived by his wife Florence E. Taylor McCabe, sons, Walter S. Jr., Edward, and Donald E. His daughters, Norma Eyre, and Shirley Jahl. Mr. McCabe was shot on Christmas Eve by his son Walter Jr. at his house on Haines Ave. A concrete motive for the shooting was never discovered. Walter Jr. was acting erratically and told police that he felt he had to end it... subsequently Walter Jr. was committed to the Delaware State Hospital until just prior to his death in 1977.
