Isaac is the son of Heinrich "Henry" and Anna Barbara (Mueller also spelled Miller) Meyer (also spelled Moyer, Mayer, Myers).

Henry Meyer, born in Germany or Switzerland, came to America with his parents when a year old. It is said he tried to walk on board of ship. He was married to Miss Barbara Miller, who came from Germany when 18 years old. He was a farmer and inherited the old homestead of his father, and he and his wife were among the original members of the Franconia Mennonite church. He died about 1800.
