Her father was Samuel Marsh and Zipporah (Fitz Randolph), she died 1784. He married secondly to Ann Middleton in 1785.
A local historian O.C. Leonard, wrote an article on the Marsh family, in The Courier-News on 09 Nov 1917, Fri · Page 21, and stated this Mary was daughter of Zipporah and Samuel Marsh, no date of birth given, and married to John Laing.

Mary R. Marsh married to John Laing, on 31 May 1820, in Plainfield, per Rahway and Plainfield MM, Quaker records. Written as daughter of Samuel Marsh of Westfield and Zipporah, his wife deceased. (Copy posted). Page 357, Marriages.

Their daughters located:
Margaretta Marsh 1821-1847 m. Jonathan Harned Vail.
Anna "Eliza" Laing 1824-1868, single, both buried at Plainfield.

Her death recorded in Rahway and Plainfield Monthly Meetings Quaker records. Spouse; John Laing, father Samuel Marsh. Age 54y. Buried Plainfield.

Her stone inscribed as age 55y, per map survey -which contributes to more uncertainty of her age.

A baptism record for a Mary Marsh, (not indexed) stated a christening occurred on
16 Jul 1780, at Presbyterian Church, of Westfield, Union County, New Jersey.
A few family trees, ancestry have her date of birth listed as May 26, 1780, with no sources provided.

Her burial stone stated age 55yr. We have attempted to get a photo of her stone prior, and have gotten report from photo volunteer that gates have been locked and unable to obtain a photo.

memorial change April, 2023--her mother Zipporah added and Ann Middleton removed. In light of her gravestone inscription giving an earlier age, her Quaker records do reflect her mother was Zipporah. (Copy).
