PIERRE (PETE) TRONQUET
Pierre Jackson (Pete) Tronquet, 72, 518 Dewar Dr., former Rock Springs fire chief, died Wednesday at 2:30 a.m. in Sweetwater County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient one day. He had been in ill health the past two years.
Born Nov. 14, 1893, in Rock Springs, he was a lifelong resident of the community and attended the city schools. He served with the U.S. Army during World War I as a military fireman and started as a fireman on the Rock Springs Fire Department in 1917. He was the only fireman employed by the city until 1922. A member of the department for 49 years, he was the fire chief for many years, a post he held until he retired June 1, 1962.
He married the former Agnes Dalgas June 17, 1917, in Green River.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, are a son, Jack Tronquet, Wallingsford, Pa.; a brother, Marcel, Boulder; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in First Congregational Church. The Rev. Douglas Wasson officiated. Interment was in Mountain View Cemetery.
Military graveside services were conducted by the American Legion, Archie Hay Post, No. 24, and the Wyoming National Guard.
Pallbearers were Jack Collins, Richard Canestrini, Clarence Bartek, David Henderson, Frank Parr and Steve Zubach.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert M. Stuart, Edwin James, Robert Logan, Earl Lawless, Clifford Jackson, Robert Wilde, George Mitchell, James Green, Guido Flor, Leo Houston, John Marietta, Walter Jorgenson, Carl Frandsen, Cecil James and O.J. Berta.
