Patrick Barrett, who had been ill for some time closed his eyes in death on the morning of the 8th of July, death resulting from a complication of deseases [sic]. The remains were laid to rest in the Green River Cemetery on the morning of the 10th, Father Schillinger conducting the funeral services in the local church. The death of Mr. Barrett was a great surprise to his many friends, as very few realized that his sickness was of a serious nature.
