DAY, Thomas Jackson Jr., 77, of Gold Bond in Giles County, died Wednesday evening, July 2, 1997, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem. Born in Giles County on July 20, 1919, he was a son of Mrs. Roba Collins Day of Rich Creek and the late Thomas J. Day Sr. He was a retired employee of The National Gypsum Co. at the Bold Bond Plant with 36 years of experience. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, and was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Day. Surviving are his wife, Mozelle Sutphin Day; three sons, Timmy Colvett Day of Southburg, Conn., Bobby Sherwood Day of Gold Bond, and Larry W. Day Sr. of Roanoke; two daughters, Diane D. Dee of Palm Coast, Fla. and Carolyn D. McMichael of Encinitas, Calif.; his mother; six brothers, Paul Day, Dewey Day of Gold Bond, Bill Day of Flint, Mich., Gene Day of Craig County, Walter Day of Lynchburg, and Ed Day of Pembroke; four sisters, Dorothy Scrobuls of Utah, Martha Day and Lillie Day of Christiansburg, and Gerallean Mabe of Ridgeway; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 5, 1997, at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke. Burial will be in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home at 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
