Buckland - John M Eastman, 43, of Ashfield Road, died Friday night at Farren Memorial hospital; born Bernardston; graduated from Turners Falls High School and Stockbridge School of Agriculture; served as sergeant for 3-1/2 years with Air Force during WWII; lived in Buckland for 11 years; member and deacon of Mary Lyon church; member Mountain Lodge AF&AM, Buckland Grange, and Franklin County Stamp Club; was active in civic affairs; was an operator for Western Mass Electric Co. in Gardner Falls, recently received 20-year pin; proprietor of Homestead Real Estate Co., and chairman of the Multiple Listing Service, Franklin County Board of Realtors; besides his wife the former Sarah Dykes, he leaves two children Jane Elizabeth and Robert S both at home, his mother Mrs John S Eastman and sister Mrs Maurice Taylor both of Greenfield; funeral from Mary Lyon Church, burial Buckland Center cemetery [published Sunday, July 16, 1961, Springfield Union]
