LAKE KIOWA — Rupert Anthony Hoenig, 80, of Lake Kiowa, passed away on July 19, 2012, at the Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth, surrounded by his children, grandchildren and wife of 58 years, Jeanne.


He was born March 2, 1932, in Muenster, to Joseph Alois and Suzanna Elizabeth Hoenig.


He also lived in Carrollton, Texas, for 35 years.


He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Hoenig; mother, Suzanna Elizabeth Hoenig; his brother, Jerome John Hoenig; and his son, Robert Dale Hoenig.


Rupert was a graduate of Subiaco Academy in Subiaco, Ark. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, during the Korean War. After 28 years working for Braniff Airlines, Rupert and family spent four years in Saudi Arabia, followed by various other airline related jobs back in the Dallas area. Rupert retired in 2001. Rupert enjoyed coaching sports, square dancing, golf and tournament style poker.


He is survived by his wife Jeanne Hoenig; children, Gary Edward Hoenig, Daniel Joseph Hoenig, Stephen Mark Hoenig, Donald Scott Hoenig, Walter Glen Hoenig, Randall Theodore Hoenig, Carol Jean Hoenig and Brian Patrick Hoenig; and siblings, Eleanor Pelzel, Rita Cottle, Raymond Hoenig and Edna Mae Hermes. Rupert had 13 grandchildren.


Celebration of Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 825 North Weaver Street in Gainesville on Saturday, July, 21, 2012, at 10 a.m., with burial at New Rest Haven Cemetery in Gainesville.


A rosary will be held at Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home, 1204 E. California St. in Gainesville on Friday, July 20, at 6 p.m.


In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted at Subiaco Academy at www.subiacoacadamy.us in memory of Rupert Anthony Hoenig, Class of 1950.
