Died, Saturday, Jan. 7, at her residence near Chincapin Hill, Mrs. Anna Miles Herndon, in the 57th year of her age. Mrs. Herndon was the widow of the late William H. Herndon, who is well known in local history as the former law partner of Abraham Lincoln.
The deceased was born near Petersburg, in Menard county, March 1, 1836, and had resided in Sangamon county for a period of about twenty six years. She was left a widow in March, 1891, by the death of Mr. Herndon, and had resided at her late home, since that time. She is survived by two daughters, Nina Bell and Minnie, who lived with their mother.
The funeral will be at the residence and the interment will be in Oak Ridge cemetery.
